The Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) has released a new online course on the essentials of building effective national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems. The self-paced, interactive course is available for free in six languages on the World Bank Group Open Learning Campus.

The Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) is entering a new phase. Jos Vaessen, Chief Evaluation Officer at the World Bank Independent Evaluation Group, will lead the network into GEI 2.0, a phase focused on securing long-term sustainability and enhancing the organization's impact and relevance.

From November 3 to 7, the International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) will deliver core courses on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in Nairobi, Kenya. The program combines global best practices and African approaches to ensure locally relevant training.

The Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Latin America and the Caribbean (CLEAR-LAC), a GEI implementing partner, is collaborating with the Evaluation Capacity Development Network (ReDeCA) to advance monitoring and evaluation capacities in development banks across the region.

In Balochistan, more than 20 government officials received training on evidence-based approaches to decision-making during a workshop co-led by the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Pakistan and Central Asia (CLEAR-PCA), an implementing partner of GEI.

The Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) and the Center for Evidence-Based Social Science of Lanzhou University (CEBSS-LZU) have partnered to strengthen evaluation capacities in China and across the globe. As part of the collaboration, GEI is supporting CEBSS-LZU's lecture series on evaluation.

Planning and budgeting officers from across Tanzania participated in a training on gender equality and social inclusion planning and budgeting in July 2025. The Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Anglophone Africa, an implementing partner of GEI, delivered the training.

Over 100 participants from across Africa participated in the Summer School of Development Methodologies in Dakar, Senegal. The Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Francophone Africa (CLEAR-FA), a GEI implementing partner, provided technical and scientific coordination during the event.

In Guatemala, over 30 government employees participated in a policy design and design evaluation course led by the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Government of Guatemala, and Inter-American Development Bank’s Office of Evaluation and Oversight.

Senior officials and commissioners from the Government of Tanzania participated in a four-day training on evaluation leadership, jointly organized by the Office of the Prime Minister and the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Anglophone Africa (CLEAR-AA), a GEI implementing partner.
