The International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET), GEI's flagship training program, launched its first regional training in Africa in November 2025. The program, which took place in Nairobi, brought together over 90 participants from 28 countries.

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has partnered with the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Latin America and the Caribbean (CLEAR–LAC), an implementing partner of GEI, to strengthen national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems and capacities across the Caribbean.

The Government of Tamil Nadu is funding a plan to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation capacities of government staff. The Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for South Asia (CLEAR-SA), an implementing partner of GEI, co-developed the plan and will support its implementation.

Strengthening youth-centered evaluation practices was the focus of a three-day training in Bujumbura, Burundi. The Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Francophone Africa (CLEAR-FA), an implementing partner of GEI, led the training together with UNICEF, RNEB, and CURDES.

Costa Rica's Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy, together with the EvalConnect project led by the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), published a report on the country’s progress in consolidating a robust, participatory, and evidence-driven evaluation system.

The GEI Network participated in EVALAC 2025 held in Cartagena, Colombia in October 2025. The event gathered 140 officials from 27 countries for foundational and specialized evaluation courses. GEI and its partners delivered training to support evaluation capacity development in the region.

The Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) has released a new online course on the essentials of building effective national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems. The self-paced, interactive course is available for free in six languages on the World Bank Group Open Learning Campus.

The Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) is entering a new phase. Jos Vaessen, Chief Evaluation Officer at the World Bank Independent Evaluation Group, will lead the network into GEI 2.0, a phase focused on securing long-term sustainability and enhancing the organization's impact and relevance.

From November 3 to 7, the International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) will deliver core courses on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in Nairobi, Kenya. The program combines global best practices and African approaches to ensure locally relevant training.
