Women in evaluation are shaping a more inclusive, rigorous, impactful field — leading evaluations, and driving evidence use around the world. Yet, gender barriers persist — limiting access to leadership, fair pay, and career growth. 

The good news? The field of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) is already home to a vast pool of experienced and talented female evaluators from diverse backgrounds. These women are breaking barriers, leading boldlyinspiring others, and encouraging more women to step in. But more work is needed to build an equitable M&E sector.
 

woMEn interview series: A glimpse into what life is like for women working in M&E
 

In celebration of International Women's Day 2025, the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) launches the "women in M&E (woMEn) interview series" to honor all women working to strengthen M&E worldwide.

The three-part series features eight female champions of M&E and development from different sectors, organizations, and regions of the world.

Part 1 - What distinctive contribution do women bring to monitoring and evaluation?

The first part of the woMEn interview series takes a closer look at the unique perspectives and strengths that women contribute to M&E.

Part 2 - What barriers make it harder for women to thrive in monitoring and evaluation?

In the second part of the series, female evaluators open up about the barriers, biases, and everyday struggles that make it difficult for women to build a more fulfilling career in M&E.

Part 3 - What kind of future do you envision for women in monitoring and evaluation?

The woMEn interview series concludes with a reflection on how to make M&E a more inclusive and empowering field for women. In this final video, the featured evaluators express their hopes and dreams for the future of women in M&E.
