Roundtable Discussion for Afghan Evaluators and MEL Professionals

About the Event

Malan Ideal Impact, in collaboration with the Afghan Evaluation Society, plans to hold an in-person roundtable discussion on the current state and future of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and research in Afghanistan. This event will bring together experts to explore key challenges, opportunities, and actionable steps for strengthening MEL practices in the country. Insights from the discussion will be synthesised into a summary of recommendations for internal use and shared with the Afghan Evaluation Society to contribute to broader knowledge-sharing and advocacy efforts.

The event will be held in person in Kabul, Afghanistan. We will share detailed participation information with registered participants via email.

Name Title Biography
Zia Lamea Co-Founder and CEO Zia brings a wealth of research and project management expertise, having dedicated over a decade to Afghanistan’s humanitarian and development sectors. He led numerous humanitarian and development research studies in Afghanistan after August 2021. He holds an MPA from LPU-India.
Qudratullah Jahid Co-Founder and Technical Lead A Fulbright scholar and renowned MEL expert with excellent complex program evaluation and management skills, having worked with multilateral and bilateral development and humanitarian organizations in Afghanistan and the Asia Pacific region.
Aqeedah Sayedi Program Management Specialist An Afghan development and humanitarian practitioner and legal counsel with expertise in designing, deploying, and managing evaluations, MEL and training programs. Aqeedah has over seven years of work experience in safeguarding, program management, and MEL. Aqeedah holds an LLB and an MA degree.

Sumayya Ghafoori Program Specialist Sumayya Ghafoori is our lead for program specialist, bringing over a decade of experience in both Afghanistan and Canada. She is an expert in programs, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), AAP, and Safeguarding. Sumayya has focused on capacity building, communications, and research within the health and education sectors, as well as collaborating with the government of Afghanistan. She is certified as a Medical Laboratory Assistant and holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Canada.
