About the Event

An inter-generational panel of evaluators, all alumni of the Facilitating Gender Transformative Evaluations (FGTE) course and its coordinator will discuss the need for a gender lens in evaluation. The discussion will map knowledge of a gender lens, its application in research and translation to conducting "gender transformative" evaluations. Challenges faced in applying a gender lens to design, monitor or evaluate interventions and examples of user focussed evaluations, feminist evaluation ethics and principles, which focus on equity and inclusiveness, will be discussed by alumni of FGTE.

Moumita Sarkar Co-Lead SWAYAM at IWWAGE She has 17+ years of experience in gender and development and specializes in strategy, policy, and programs focused on women’s economic empowerment. She works across India, the UN, government ministries like Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, driving gender-responsive policies and programs. She has expertise in advocacy, capacity building, and research.
Amrita Gupta Independent Consultant She brings 17 years of experience in mixed method research, monitoring and evaluation, and policy review. She is proficient in gender-transformative methodologies for evaluation like User Focused Evaluation and Outcome Harvesting. She is a core team member of Gender & Equity Network South Asia (GENSA), member of the Evaluation Community of India (ECOI) and an Alumnus of FGTE (2023) and IPDET (2024).
Dr. Alpaxee Kashyap Independent Consultant A YEE with a PhD in Women and Gender studies, she has 10+ years of experience of working in gender research and evaluation with organisations like UN Women, Oxfam India, Oxfam International, ICRW, Gender@Work and IWWAGE. An alumnus of the first batch of FGTE course, she is currently the coordinator of the FGTE course run by ISST for early to mid-career and senior professionals.
Lokesh Gujjarappa Specialist - Impact, United Way of Bengaluru A seasoned development professional with over 20 years of expertise in evidence-based program design, implementation, and impact evaluation. A certified Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) specialist with six years of focused experience in conceptualizing and managing impactful campaigns and projects for over 60 corporate partners and multi-state CSR initiatives. Recognized for excellence in corporate relationship management, grant administration, NGO partnership management, and delivering measurable social outcomes.

Jahnvi Andharia Director and Research Fellow - Institute of Social Studies Trust Dr. Jahnvi Andharia has been working in the development sector for 35 years largely through direct community action, short stints with philanthropic organisations and academic organisations. Since January 2021, she holds the position of Director and Research Fellow at the Institute of Social Studies Trust. Her work lies at the intersections of addressing vulnerability, marginalisation of rural women, collective empowerment strategies, promoting grassroot leadership, capacity building, evidence building and organisation systems building.
