About the Event
This session will explore the critical role of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in advancing climate action and a just transition, particularly in climate change and health projects. Targeting researchers, policymakers, and operational organizations, we will discuss successes, challenges, and the impact of M&E in assessing climate adaptation and health interventions. Emphasis will be placed on identifying good practices, lessons learned, and the future implications for both the industry and society in mitigating climate-related health risks and ensuring equity in climate policies.

Umar Ibrahim | National President | Dr. Umar Ibrahim is a global health governance specialist with over 25 years of experience in public health programs in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. He is a skilled manager and leader, with service strengths in public, private, academic, and civil society sectors. Additionally, he has been involved in the activities of the Leadership Board Member, Global Alliance for Inter- and Transdisciplinarity (ITD Alliance); Climate Sensitive Infectious Diseases Network, African Forum for Health and Education Research, Accra Ghana; and the African Forum for Primary Healthcare (AfroPHC) as an Executive Board Member, and ex-Sub-Sahara African focal person Planetary Health Alliance, among others. His research interest evolved around transdisciplinary collaborations for environmental change and public health. He is at present, a lecturer at Federal University Dutse (FUD), Nigeria, with a faculty position at the School of Public Health, Kampala International University (KIU), Uganda, and the Centre Coordinator, African Health and Research Organization. He engaged with a range of stakeholders and has a demonstrable track record in leadership and influencing roles. He has a significant number of peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented papers at national and international conferences and webinars. He is a result-oriented and diligent team player, master trainer, advocate, and consultant. He is passionate about sustainable development issues, equity, and social justice. |
